American Banker, a SourceMedia publication, is the leading information resource serving the banking industry. Its operations include a 176 year-old daily print edition and the AmericanBanker.com web site.

We currently have a position available for a Blogger/Editor. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will involve writing, editing and assigning blog posts for American Banker’s BankThink opinion hub.

An important part of the role will involve writing Morning Scan, a news summary published around 9 a.m. daily. Morning Scan requires the author to browse newspapers and news sites early mornings, quickly decide which stories matter most to bankers and rapidly produce concise summaries with a distinct editorial voice. This duty will be shared with the Executive Editor, to whom the Blogger/Editor will report.

The successful candidate will also: work closely with print-edition colleagues to prepare columns for publication; write for BankThink.com; and edit opinion pieces submitted by staff members and outside contributors. The Blogger/Editor will also be responsible for staying in close contact with outside contributors and delivering constructive criticism to them.

This position requires solid reporting, writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work with tight deadlines.
