Reviews/Consumer Writer, Immediate Parenting
Start date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time
Duration: Permanent
Immediate Media, the UK’s largest cross-media Parenting publisher, is looking for a hardworking, talented Reviews/Consumer Writer to work across its multi-platform portfolio of parenting websites and magazines. This is a chance to become a much-valued member of a skilled, friendly and inclusive team, joining at an exciting time in the development of a cross-media parenting editorial team.
The successful candidate will possess outstanding writing, social media and organisational skills. You’ll need to be able to work under pressure, manage daily deadlines and prioritise tasks accordingly.
You must have experience working as a paid journalist in either digital or print publishing, preferably both. We’ll want to hear about your wealth of experience in writing product reviews and your ability to unearth innovative products and tell readers about them with lively, sparkling copy.
Reporting to the Reviews Editor, typical duties will include: organising product reviews, reader reviews and group tests; writing reviews, news stories and consumer features; identifying consumer trends; representing Immediate Parenting at press shows and trade/consumer fairs; devising endless creative feature ideas and developing strong relationships with parenting PRs and companies.
Experience in parenting is not essential but you will need to demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for the parenting market and a desire to become an expert in pregnancy and baby gear. You’ll also have an instinctive understanding of what the modern parent needs from their magazines and websites.
Immediate Media is a new force in consumer media and publishing, combining businesses formerly known as BBC Magazines, Origin Publishing and Magicalia. With an exciting mix of market-leading brands, great talent and technology IP, the company combines publishing heritage with digital platforms and entrepreneurial flair. Immediate Parenting is currently located in Angel Islington, but will be relocating to Hammersmith W6 in August.
