If you’re not a dedicated self-starter who’s driven by the obsessive need to make copy perfect and stay on the cutting edge of New Jersey business, please stop reading here.

NJBIZ has an immediate opening for a managing editor who eats deadlines for breakfast, coaches reporters through lunch and doesn’t mind skipping dinner when late-breaking news hits the table. You’ll be responsible for managing the entire flow of the paper, from coaching reporters into developing strong story ideas to writing killer headlines that grab our readers and don’t let go until they’ve read the last word. You’ll also be charged with keeping our daily online newsletter relevant in a sea of worthy competitors.

Our newsroom is young, hungry and in search of a confident leader who can inspire a team of five reporters as they chase leads all over the state in search of the biggest stories and most sought-after profiles for the weekly print edition. And on top of that, the person you’ll be replacing wrote our weekly editorials and other features; played a hand in developing and writing our attention-getting power lists; and pretty much had the entire AP Stylebook memorized.

If you’re sick of working nights, weekends and holidays, please know this is a daytime, Monday-Friday job. We offer a complete suite of benefits, including health, dental, vision and a 401(k) program. If you’ve got three years’ editing experience and a desire to take the next step in your career, send your résumé, work samples and salary requirements to Editor Sharon Waters, sharonw@njbiz.com.
