Position Description: MarketWatch, a leading site for markets and financial news, insight and advice, is looking for a markets-focused social media editor. This editor would be primarily responsible for overseeing distribution of MarketWatch reporting across the social media sphere, while using social to enhance our news coverage and engage our readers.
The editor would be on MarketWatch's frontline of social news gathering and reporting, innovating in the way we cover the markets and provide investing advice. The editor's role would include: spreading and monitoring news, responding to readers, soliciting materials for reporting projects, coordinating social media efforts within the newsroom, and quickly reacting to developing stories or breaking news events.
A big part of the job: endlessly experimenting, coming up with ideas for ways to expand our reach and make MarketWatch more social.
The editor, based in New York, would be vigilant in seeking and relaying social intelligence back to the newsroom -- the latest innovations, trends and best practices -- to train staff, inform our approach to social media, and grow a stronger audience. Position Requirements: Demonstrated experience doing social media work in an editorial context, especially involving markets is preferred.
