What it’s all about… We’re looking for a multi-faceted reporter to act as both the Producer and Reporter to communicate real-time and anticipated traffic conditions in the U.S.
This position is a key part of a Media Technology team and is responsible for overseeing and producing many aspects of a report for the US market and how traffic technology intersects with our lives. The Producer & Reporter position reports directly to the VP of Marketing & Communications.
The reporter / producer will play a significant role in creating the content and crafting its identity and delivery. S/he is responsible for everything from scheduling interviews to producing any pre-recorded elements. S/he is also responsible for producing additional multimedia elements including blog posts, tweets and frequent podcasts in conjunction with the public relations team. S/he is responsible for producing material that meet the editorial standards (and sound and style) of the team and, may be called upon to appear on air. The producer works closely with the host to ensure production of newsy and insightful technology stories, and two-ways that can appear across all media programs and online
•Research, collate, and analyze traffic and travel data and information in order to produce and write unique and headline-grabbing commentary and stories for the show and include tracking and organizing research materials
•Operate studio equipment and VNB tools along with relevant software programs along with, managing timely delivery for all elements of the program
•Ability to conceive, plan and execute programming and associated non-broadcast projects.
•Produce/Report on pre-planned calendar of events, as well as those that just happen
•Collaborate with the media team on the creative process that generates themes and story ideas for each segment, as well as evolving the vision for the overall program. Participate in all creative aspects of the program
•Promote the brand across all media platforms and create pieces for the brand and other industry clients
•Develop and maintain effective communication with various sources and manage a database of such contacts
•Manage client relationships and outside content partners in a professional manner to ensure maximum efficiency in sharing stories and presenting them in a dynamic way
•Conduct ongoing, in-depth research into a wide variety of technology topics in order to become broadly conversant in the rapidly changing landscape of Smartphones, Navigation and Traffic information
•Make spokesperson appearances as required; Assist with PR activity as required
•Foster a creative and productive work environment and a passion for technology.
•5+ years of journalism, radio and reporting experience across various media including TV, radio, paper, and online and write smart, compelling content for a variety of platforms quickly. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field, preferred
•Must be willing to be flexible in terms of work hours due to unpredictable nature of traffic and different time zones; this is not a 9-5 job
•Ability to work independently and under pressure and ad lib coherently in an engaging manner in a live setting.
•Proven ability to contribute to a positive, diverse, creative, high performance culture
•Experience in radio news production, news gathering and writing, in editing digital audio. And a demonstrated ability to report, write, produce, and broadcast creative and compelling content in a national format
•Ability to operate studio equipment by oneself if needed
•Knowledge of multi-track and broadcast consoles, audio storage media
•Strong organizational and communication skills
•Ability to travel overnight (10% travel anticipated; may increase over time)
