Location: Sacramento bureau
We need two high-performing reporters for our state government bureau. One should be an experienced investigator who can break agenda-setting news – the kind that gets laws changed – by covering California’s vast and varied agencies. The other should be a versatile beat reporter who can cover the $130-billion state budget, staying ahead of the news while also producing high-impact enterprise about the dynamics behind the spending. Both positions involve, to varying degrees, dailies, weekend stories and longer-term digging. We need smart pieces off routine public events and occasional profiles and features in addition to hard-hitting enterprise. Essentials include good political antennae, the maturity to withstand constant pressure from those we cover and a proven ability to render complicated information engagingly. Send resume/clips to state government editor Linda Rogers at linda.rogers@latimes.com.
