IFLScience, Weekend Flexible Writer
In its relatively short operating history IFLScience has become the leading destination for engaging and thought-provoking science content, with 90 million unique monthly visitors and 300 million page views. Spawning from a Facebook page in Spring 2012, “I F*cking Love Science” now has over 25 million Facebook likes and is a top-5 for Facebook’s Edge Rank which measures engagement and reach. IFLScience.com was founded in Midland, Ontario in Canada but has recently relocated to London UK.
We're looking for a general science writer. This is a full-time position, but the hours and days may vary.
We're specifically looking for someone to keep the site running during the weekend, and to cover staff vacation days during the week. We're flexible to your needs, and you'll be able to change which days you work during the week depending on your schedule.
As you'll often be working days when most of our staff won't, you'll need to be comfortable covering a large variety of stories. You'll also need to be very motivated, and capable of thinking for yourself. You'll have a large amount of freedom with regards to your schedule and tasks.
Saturdays and Sundays will be spent working from home, and weekdays will be based in our Covent Garden office. Remote applicants cannot be considered for this position.
- Science degree
- Journalism experience/journalism post-grad degree.
- Passionate about science communication.
