The company is seeking talented and experienced oil reporters in to cover the oil markets for our global client base. In addition to reporting on oil markets, this position involves communication with our oil industry subscribers and clients using the ICE Instant Message application.

MT Newswires operates a premium chat service related to oil markets through the ICE Instant message application. Reporters on the First Oil chat team write and disseminate oil news and communicate with oil traders and market participants in globally on chat/IM throughout the day.

The company is growing it's premium oil commodity news and chat services and is looking for experienced and energetic oil reporters & editors to join the First Oil chat team. These positions can be telecommute from any country.

TELECOMMUTE JOB DESCRIPTION:

In depth familiarity and extensive experience in reporting on oil and related energy commodities is required. Experience at other financial wire services (Dow Jones Newswires, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, S&P Global, etc.) is a big plus.  Being comfortable in communicating with oil traders/clients throughout each business day via instant messenger is required.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience covering oil and energy markets for a business and/or financial publication;
  • Ability to work at least 6 hours per day, Monday - Friday remotely
  • Access to a computer with a reliable high speed internet connection
  • Familiarity with ICE Instant Message and their Data and Analytics applications (not required but a big plus)


The position requires disseminating oil and energy related commodity news throughout the day with oil industry contacts (traders, dealers, etc.) on the ICE Instant Message application. In addition to writing oil news and publishing those stories on our wire service, the individual filling this role will be largely focused on communicating with oil industry subscribers via the ICE Message/chat application.

Stories are syndicated to major market data platforms and large financial institutions every business day (excluding market holidays).

Pay is on the high end of the industry scale and may either be freelance or full time employment.
