My ideal day is…spending quality time with my wife and kids discovering something exciting and new in our community, or just simply going to the local ice cream shop for a single strawberry cone.
What made me want to get into PR was…the potential of being able to talk with nationally and internationally renowned news reporters.
My colleagues would say I’m… Hopefully they'd say I'm a smart and savvy practitioner, but I'd settle for a funny guy who doesn't take himself too seriously
Five words that describe me…committed, passionate, conversational, driven and, most importantly, family-oriented.
I always thought I’d be…a marine biologist.
I’m at my best when…I'm immersed in a client or project trying to figure out the best path for communicating their brand.
My most prized possession is… My two young children, Emily and Drew.
I’m a closet reader of…shark-attack files.
You don’t want to be around me when…I'm tired and grumpy after a good solid week of serving my clients.
The most interesting fact about me is…I used to want to be a drummer in a rock band (needless to say, I'm still waiting on getting my first kit; at 47 years old, it may be too late to realize that dream!)
My favorite PR moment was…getting my coffee-manufacturing on SportsCenter, early in the days of ESPN, at the Final Four in Seattle
My relationship with journalists is…terrific and two-way in nature, if they're willing to have that kind of dialogue!
My next vacation will be in…Hawaii, on the Big Island in Kona-Kialua
What would you like to do more of in PR? Have time and budget for front-end research
What one thing do you want to accomplish by the end of 2014? Grow my Seattle office to twice its current size
What do you hope will happen today? I have spirited, fulfilling conversations with my team, my clients and my new-business prospects
We have an unusual name. What do you think Gorkana means? To me, Gorkana sounds like it was inspired by a science fiction story --- perhaps the name of a distant planet, or outer galaxy. Maybe there's an Arthur C. Clarke or Star Trek fan among the ranks?
