The Monitor, a 41,000-circulation newspaper located in McAllen, Texas, is looking for a sports reporter/designer to join our staff. The Monitor sports staff covers beats ranging from high school football, the NBA Development League, the University of Texas-Pan American and other sports. High school sports are prominent in our section and drive

McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, one of the five fastest growing areas of the nation, is an exciting market where local news regularly makes the national wires. There is never a lack of news here and we deal day in and day out with some of the hottest issues facing the nation.

Anyone interested in the position should be well-versed in sports in general, and have knowledge of the use of the Web. Also, because everyone shares desk duties, the applicant should be fluent in InDesign.

In addition to the above requirements, the applicant should also be able to know his/her way around social media (Facebook, Twitter) as it is a big part of the job at The Monitor.

Recent college graduates will be considered, but professional experience is preferred.
