Senior Staff Writer, Columbia Journalism Review - NY
Columbia Journalism Review (CJR) is seeking a Senior Staff Writer.
In a position funded by the Delacorte Center/New York Community Trust, the incumbent will be an experienced reporter who will play a lead role in covering the media industry.
Whether it is profiling emerging players in the field, unearthing important news, or exploring the dynamics reshaping newsrooms, this reporter will become a dominant voice for CJR and, as such, a dominant voice on media reporting in the country.
We want someone who can break news fast and dominate the conversation on social media, but who can also write and report long-form magazine stories with elegance and originality.
This reporter will also partner with the editor and publisher to develop young talent on staff as well as students at the graduate school. The incumbent will produce a regular stream of high-impact pieces that help to define the rapid changes taking place in journalism. These should possess a combination of rigorous reporting and trenchant analysis.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, as well as a minimum 3–5 years’ related experience.
