Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage SCMP’s digital image, tone and brand on all social networks, specifically focusing on US audiences
  • Help define and execute a strong social media strategy to grow SCMP’s reach and engagement for both established and new products
  • Work directly with SCMP's New York-based marketing and partnership teams to execute social campaigns, as well as with the wider newsroom
  • Produce bespoke content optimized for social platforms, to appeal to and grow specific audience segments
  • Use data and metrics to make informed content decisions for social platform targeting, scheduling and distribution
  • Maintain accuracy and break down complex stories in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks


Job Requirements:

  • Degree holder preferably in journalism or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' newsroom experience with demonstrated knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social platforms
  • Identify and experiment with emerging platforms
  • Be a team player and consistently deliver within deadlines
  • Proven track record in implementing successful social media strategies
  • Experience using Google Analytics and similar tools
  • This role will be based in our US Bureau in New York
