The Wall Street Journal seeks an experienced journalist with a keen sense of the specialized content needs of business and financial professionals to work on data initiatives and to help identify new opportunities based on painstaking market research.

The editor in this position will develop a thorough understanding of the work habits and workflow of business and financial professionals, and devise innovative tools that help them understand their industries and do their jobs more effectively.

Working alongside senior editors on the professional news team, the person in this position will work to make data a core part of our professional products.

This journalist will evaluate, organize and source valuable data, identifying internal and external sources, and will work with the Dow Jones Data Strategy team and developers to turn the data into usable product features.

Among other responsibilities, the editor in this position will perform a thorough evaluation of existing data in our products to ensure it's actionable as part of a customer's daily work, can be easily updated and can be sliced into components for our newsletters.

This editor will track market developments and rivals, and communicate frequently with professionals in these markets. The person in this position will also collaborate with members of the sales, product and WSJ customer knowledge teams to analyze the markets and industries we serve and study opportunities for possible new initiatives. This person will also need to develop a complete understanding of rival products, including their features and customers.

The ideal candidate for this position will have several years of experience working in financial news, either as an editor or product manager.

The right candidate also has experience creating datasets and tools for professionals, and must be capable of doing rigorous research. This person must be creative, diligent and able to work across departments at Dow Jones and with third-party data providers to identify the best solutions for our professional products.
